Karla Ortiz is a Puerto Rican, internationally recognized award-winning artist. With her exceptional design sense, realistic renders, and character-driven narratives, Karla has contributed to many big-budget films as a concept artist, including Jurassic World, World of Warcraft, Rogue One: A Starwars Story, Marvel’s Thor Ragnarok, Black Panther, Infinity Wars, and most notably her design of Doctor Strange for Marvel’s Doctor Strange.
We are very excited to welcome her in Eindhoven and take an in-depth look at her design process.

Based in San Francisco USA, Karla swiftly juggles creating concept art, illustrations and visual development pieces. And that‘s not all because she also enjoys taking a swing at fine arts, having exhibited works at the Studio Gallery SF, the Safehouse studios shows, Thinkspace Art Gallery, Nucleus Gallery, Spoke Art Gallery, Hashimoto Contemporary and internationally at Galerie Arludik in Paris, France.
As a professional Illustrator her clients include Wizards of the Coast, Ace Books, Tor Books, Orbit Books, CB+P and has provided cover work and art for various independent authors and toy makers.
Karla loves good music, good stories, good laughs and good food. She paints her days away with her cat Keedy Bady , and that’s how she likes it.
We can‘t wait to find out more about her process during her time at The Art Department Eindhoven!
