Playgrounds Fest is a celebration of the creative image across animation, film, games, illustration, design and the ever-changing landscape of digital media.
In 2027, Playgrounds Fest, previously known as The Art Department, returns to Strijp-S Eindhoven with a packed program full of artist talks, workshops, games, demos, screenings, live sketching sessions, portfolio reviews, expos and plenty of opportunities to connect with the industry.
And this year with three days of festival magic:

Playgrounds mission is to connect makers, talent, industry and education by creating spaces where communities meet to share knowledge, learn new skills and ignite new dream projects. Online and offline, locally and internationally.
Playgrounds Fest 2027 is more than an event. It’s a foundation for the creative industry to grow, connect and push visual culture boldly forward.
The Art Department becomes Playgrounds Fest:
The festival you know and love remains at its core, but under the Playgrounds Fest name we’re expanding its scope to include animation, film, games, illustration, design and digital media, while creating even more experiences and activities throughout urban area Strijp-S in Eindhoven.
