CODE OF CONDUCT

Playgrounds is committed to providing a safe and inclusive experience for everyone involved in our events regardless of gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disabilities, neurodiversity, ethnicity, color, nationality, age, religion, or other protected characteristics. We believe everyone has the right to enjoy our events without fear of harassment, discrimination, or condescension.

This Code of Conduct acts as guide for everyone who participates in our events including visitors, artists, sponsors, vendors, volunteers, crew members and other guests. We want to make sure that everyone understands what behavior is expected and what behavior will not be tolerated. This Code of Conduct applies to all Events organized by Playgrounds including festivals, exhibitions, talent-meetings and portfolio sessions.

EXPECTED CONDUCT

  1. Be considerate and respectful to each other.
  2. Refrain from harassing, discriminatory or demeaning conduct.
  3. Alert a crew member if you feel uncomfortable or are being harassed. Please reach out to our staff as well when you notice someone else is being harassed, or contact our confidential counselor.

UNACCEPTABLE CONDUCT

Playgrounds does not tolerate harassment or discrimination in any form. Examples of unacceptable conduct include, without limitation:

CONSEQUENCES

All reported concerns will be treated seriously. Together with the person in question we’ll decide what our next steps will be. We shall not take action or notify anyone with out your explicit consent. People who are asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately. Any violation of our Code of Conduct may result in removal from or denial of access to the event, and/or disqualification from attendance at future events, regardless of their status or role within the event or our organization.

REPORTING PROCEDURE

If you believe you or someone else has been subject to conduct that violates this Code of Conduct, or witnesses such conduct, please report this immediately, or as soon as possible to a member of our staff, a confidential counselor (see below), or the local authorities. All reported concerns will be treated seriously and investigated promptly. Everyone involved is expected to cooperate fully and honestly with any investigation.

If you prefer to talk to a confidential counselor who’s completely separated from our organisation: please reach out to Gerlinda Heywegen. She works in absolute confidentiality and will not take action or notify anyone without your explicit consent. More info about her can be found here.

WHY IS THIS POLICY IMPORTANT?

Harassment at events and in online communities is unfortunately common. Creating an official policy aims to improve this by making it clear that harassment of anyone for any reason is not acceptable within our events and communities. This policy may prevent harassment by clearly defining expectations for behavior, aims to provide reassurance, and encourages people who have had bad experiences at other events to participate in this one.
