WHAT TO EXPECT
In this workshop from production designer Nelson Lowry, you’ll speed build a 3D cardboard model based on a rough sketch from your sketchbook (black and white only).
The workshop will kick off with an introduction from Nelson, who’ll then help you choose a drawing from your sketchbook.
For the first 45 minutes, you’ll work on your model while getting the chance to receive feedback. After this first half, there will be a quick break to review your work. During the other 45 minutes, you can finish your model, and at the end you’ll review your designs together as a group.
ABOUT NELSON LOWRY
Nelson led LAIKA’s stellar production design team for ParaNorman and Kubo and the Two Strings and Missing Link. His prior credits include Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride, the Christmas comedy Fred Claus, and Danny Boyle’s Sunshine. Nelson’s work on Eddie Murphy’s TV series The PJs earned an Emmy Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation and an Annie Award nomination. He won an Annie Award for Outstanding Achievement in Production Design in an Animated Feature for Kubo and the Two Strings.
