WORKSHOP & MASTERCLASS: HOW TO SMASH YOUR PITCH

PLAYGROUNDS IN MOTION LONDON 2026

SESSION 1: HOW TO SMASH YOUR PITCH MASTERCLASS
Open to all, no extra ticket required

Pitching is a skill, not a personality trait — and most creators have never been taught it. This session gives you the toolbox. In 45 minutes, you’ll learn what the industry actually expects to hear from a pitch, why most pitches fail before the second sentence, and the techniques that build genuine confidence in the room.

It’s interactive, it’s fast, and by the end we hope a few volunteers will pitch live (1–2 mins) for instant feedback. Come ready to participate — and to walk away with a sharper pitch than you came in with.

My SMASH Media is an IP matchmaking platform connecting creators with the people who can make their projects happen — producers, broadcasters, financiers, sales agents — beyond the usual closed networks.SMASH is free for Creators.

Founders Fiona Gillies and Christine Hartland are independent feature producers who’ve run pitch workshops for the Glasgow Film Festival (Animatic + Funny Features), BBC Writers, NFTS, Storyhouse Ireland, and more.

SESSION 2: HOW TO SMASH YOUR PITCH WORKSHOP
Requires attendance at Session 1 (masterclass) and a separate ticket (£48) that you can buy here

This is where the work happens. Building on “How to SMASH Your Pitch” this small-group workshop is for the 10 people ready to put their own project on the table.

To take part you’ll need to have attended the first session, created a free pitch on the SMASH platform using its industry-standard Pitch Builder, and prepped a 3-minute pitch with visuals — bring your laptop or iPad.

Each participant pitches and gets direct, constructive feedback from Fiona and Christine — the same format they’ve used with cohorts at MG Alba/BBC Scotland, Storyhouse Ireland, BBC Writers, and many more.

The goal isn’t polish for its own sake — it’s leaving with a pitch that actually lands.

Limited to 10 places. Bring your project, not just your nerves.
