WHAT TO EXPECT
As motion design expands beyond linear animation into digital products and interactive experiences, the skills—and mindset—required of motion designers are changing.
This workshop explores that transition through the lens of Rive. Rather than focusing only on learning a new tool, we’ll look at what it means to move from traditional motion design to designing motion for interfaces, products, and real-time experiences. We’ll discuss how workflows evolve, how collaboration changes when working with product designers and developers, and why interactive motion requires a different way of thinking.
The workshop is divided into two parts. The first is a conversational introduction to the changing landscape of motion design and the opportunities emerging in UX and product design. The second is a hands-on beginner’s introduction to Rive, covering the fundamentals needed to start building interactive animations.
No previous experience with Rive is required.
Participants are required to bring their own laptop with Rive installed (can be the free version).
ABOUT EMANUELE COLOMBO
Emanuele Colombo is an Italian motion designer and visual artist known for his playful, visually bold animation work, often characterized by strong use of color and simple shapes. He built his practice through character animation and expressive visual storytelling, contributing to projects that helped define contemporary aesthetics in digital motion design over the past decade.
In recent years, his work has expanded toward the intersection of animation, interaction, and UX and UI driven systems. This shift reflects a broader evolution from creating content for social and media driven environments to designing motion as part of product infrastructure and interactive experiences. His practice continues to explore how motion can shape meaning across both expressive narrative formats and functional digital systems.
