Join paper artist Vera van Wolferen for a fun and inspiring session on creating animated films with paper! She will take you behind the scenes of her work, showing how a story comes to life—from idea to set building.

Watch her short film Tourist Trap and clips from Down in the Dumps, along with exclusive behind-the-scenes footage. Vera will also display parts of her handmade paper sets for inspiration.

After the talk, it’s your turn! Cut out characters from Down in the Dumps in order to craft your own scene. One thing left to decide: What story would you like to tell?

Dutch artists Vera van Wolferen is renowned for her highly detailed constructed papercraft worlds that bring miniature magical realms to life. With a portfolio that includes collaborations with brands like Heineken, Facebook, Bosch, and Jo Malone, Vera has left an indelible mark on the world of animation and design. Her short film Down in the Dumps is set to premiere at the Berlinale in February 2025. Her previous works, including Tourist Trap and her graduation film How to Catch a Bird, have earned her accolades such as a Vimeo Staff Pick and recognition by Monocle as one of the new-generation animators.

So join Vera for this unique session and unlock the secrets behind her paper-made cinematic universes. Prepare to be inspired and discover the storyteller within you!
