Enjoy the sauciest selection of short animated films made by female directors. This program is co-curated by Hannah Lau-Walker, animation director and founder of She Drew That.
She Drew That is a multi-platform community of female animators. It aims to develop female (including cisgender, transgender and non-binary people) freelancers’ skills while connecting them with other people active in the animation industry.
Expect a program where the line between the erotic and the artistic blurs into a mesmerising whirlwind of expression. Juicy content, quirky stories, visual pleasures but, most of all, a fantastic female gaze. Blushing is required.
Featuring films by Jaura Jayne, Sophie Marsch, Efa Blosse Mason, Sophie Koko Gate, Linda Kruass, Bea Hoeller, Kaho Yoshida, Anna Lena Sping and Lara Pennen.
Time: 25+26 May | 10:00 – 18:00
Location: Gallery – First Floor
A screening is started every 30 minutes and the mini cinema fits up to 15 people.
BLOOMING – SOPHIE MARSCH & EFA BLOSSE MASON
Blooming is a stop-motion film which uses fleshy plasticine to invite the viewer to take a plant’s eye view of the world. This playful film is a celebration of desire and pleasure.
SAUNA – ANNA LENA SPING & LARA PENNEN
When Ava enters the sauna for the first time she’s overwhelmed by the nudity, her thoughts, and the physical sensations. But as the heat rises, Ava starts to relax. Finally, she melts away and dissolves into complete ecstasy.
HOT AND TASTY – LAURA JAYNE
Two drunk friends accidentally walk into a crime scene.
Laura Jayne is a 2D animator and illustrator. She creates unapologetically hilarious female characters. Her work often irreverently celebrates female friendships turning to animation, shot comics or illustration to tell her stories.
Hot and Tasty combines her interests in true crime, cartoons, girls and chicken shops.
SLUG LIFE – SOPHIE KOKO GATE
A day in the life of Tanya, a curious woman who’s developed a taste for lab-grown lovers.
舌 TONGUE – KAHO YOSHIDA
Tired of being talked at by men, a woman takes a sensual trip with unusual friends.
FUFILLMENOT – JULIA JESIONEK
Fulfillmenot is a visual poem about searching for answers that turn into questions, into answers and more questions. In an associative chain of events, an ever-changing protagonist takes unexpected actions in strange landscapes. Throughout the film she goes on to explore her personality and her body in new, different ways. As alternate versions of her start to emerge, escape and finally devour her, she comes to understand that linearity is an illusion.
PUSSY LOVE – LINDA KRAUSS
Cool Cat invites you. To join the world of “Pussy Love.” Enjoy a show of lust and laziness. Let’s have fun with tits and dicks. The claws are sharp, the soda is sparkling and the fur is getting wet. Romance is kitsch. But even the most jaded cat can still be lost for love.
KLIMAX – BEA HOELLER
Klimax explores the topic of female masturbation in order to redefine the already negatively connoted image of the female sex and thus strives to create new aesthetic associations of femininity. Our main protagonist, Barbie, undergoes a process of transformation. Like Alice in Wonderland, she is immersed in a magical world, a place of allure and delight. It is a fantastic place that leads her to change little by little to free herself from her stiffness and oppression. Klimax is meant to show how unique and beautiful every woman’s body is.
