Touching and spooky in the same time, stop-motion animated short Wander to Wonder follows Mary, Billybud, and Fumbleton stars of a the children’s television program. They are left alone in the studio after the show’s originator passed away. With their slowly decaying costumes and growing hunger, they continue to make increasingly strange episodes for their audience.

The film premiered at Venice Film Festival and quickly became a festivals’ darling, winning over 40 awards. Among them, Best British Short at the British Independent Film Awards and a Golden Calf for Netherlands Film Festival.

Wander to Wonder recently scored nominations for the Academy Awards (Oscar) as well as BAFTA, both in the Best Animated Short Film category.

The film is directed by Nina Gantz, a Dutch-born London-based film director. She previously won a BAFTA and a Sundance Award for her graduation film at the London Film and TV Academy,  Edmond.

Wander to Wonder is part of our Oscar Shorts selection, featuring acclaimed short films that have captured international festival accolades and redefined the art of short filmmaking.
