As we face an unprecedented planetary crisis, Studio Birthplace is devoted to igniting global action, one story at a time. Founders Sil van der Woerd and Jorik Dozy gave up their Hollywood careers to shift the narrative and tell stories for a just, healthy world for all. Their iconic, viral campaigns on topics such as deforestation, overconsumption, the plastic soup and Indigenous rights have earned over 120 awards, over 200 million views and inspired change worldwide. We all are told the wrong stories. In the face of climate meltdown and the sixth mass extinction, exploitative industries have weaponized our stories for profit and continue to misuse storytelling to manipulate us. But we all are the creative resistance.
In their talk on the Film Industry Day and the interview during the Opening Night, Studio Birthplace explores how the same mechanics used to shape our behavior can be reclaimed to correct the narrative and restore our place within nature. We can’t wait to hear more about their creative process and their upcoming projects during PIFF!
