Known for her works with Dreamworks TV, Hasbro, Harper Collins, Nickelodeon, Square-Enix, Lonely Planet and Procreate, among others, not to mention her beautiful picture books, Beatrice Blue has charmed us all the way through. We’ve listened to her talks and insights during our online festivals as well as Playgrounds TV, enjoyed her demos and even took a peek into her workspace. But now we are very excited to actually meet her in person, during The Art Department Eindhoven!
Beatrice Blue is an illustrator and visual development artist in love with magic, forests, colours and potions. She works on animation movies and illustrates books. She’s also a great explorer, and if you can’t find her for some reason, she might be just hiding in some cabin inside a lost mountain somewhere in the world. She always carries with her a banana shaped pencil case full of pencil colours, as well as sketchbooks, storybooks, and lots of fruit. Oh, and sticks that she picks constantly from the floor too.
Her inspiration comes from many places! Sometimes form dreams, or walking through the woods, stories, images, films, the light, colours, childhood memories, or maybe general thoughts about a specific matter.
We met author, illustrator and art director Beatrice Blue back in 2020. She first joined us for a demo during our first online fest. And then, again, for an artist talk during our online festival Blend. She also took part in an in-depth interview for our Playgrounds TV series.
