During the opening night in NatLab of the international Eindhoven Film Festival on Thursday evening November 28th, the talent development trajectory Next presented the six Brabant talents who will participate in the expansion of the Next talent development program. Within Next, every talent is coached for a year in their artistic, technical and professional development.
The partners who have set up this trajectory are Eindhoven Film Festival, Broet, NatLab, AKV | St. Joost, Playgrounds, Submarine Channel, Herrie Film & TV and BredaPhoto.
They selected the following six filmmakers for the trajectory Next | Docu:
Aiman Hassani, Iris van der Meule, Loes Janssen, Justus van den Elsen, Josefien van Kooten, Loes Janssen and Marieke Widlak.
With this group of six makers and storytellers, the partners selected filmmakers who have a clear artistic signature and tell stories that are told rarely. In addition, they choose to show their stories in an “abrasive” innovative and cross-discipline way in installations, VR experiences, (short) documentaries and web series.
Next | Docu is a tailor-made talent development program and an extension of the existing Next program that focuses on animation, virtual reality, games and visual effects. Together with the selected talents, a personal program is developed that runs for a year. The participants present the results of their research and development during an event appropriate to their positioning and project. Workshops and masterclasses are tailor-made, but are partly open to other filmmakers so that more Dutch talent can professionalize and deepen and the program contributes to the creative sector in the province.
For Next | Docu filmmakers were nominated by a broad representation from the Dutch and Brabant film and creative industries. This resulted in 13 applications of an extremely high level for the process. The number of applications proves that Next responds to a pressing need in the Brabant audiovisual landscape.
Next | Docu is made possible by the Province of Noord-Brabant, Kunstloc, Eindhoven Film Festival, Broet, Natlab, AKV | St. Joost, Playgrounds, Submarine Channel, Herrie Film & TV and BredaPhoto.
