EXPO SKETCHING - INTO THE MIND OF THE ARTIST

the art department eindhoven & berlin | EXPO

In a sketch you see what goes on in the artist’s mind. The search for the right line, attitude, volumes, emotions.

We always really want to browse through the sketchbooks and often we find the sketch much more powerful than the polished, ‘cleared’ end result. That is why we are devoting an exhibition to this subject: SKETCHING – into the mind of the artist at The Art Department Eindhoven and Berlin. An ode to sketching with work by a number of leading artists, who provide insight into their search on the basis of original work, sketchbooks and films. With work by, among others, Jeremy HoffmanWouter TulpMitch Leeuwe, Next talent Jelle van Meerendonk, Dirk van Dulmen, Loish and John Nevarez.

We also display sculptures by Martin Rezard and Andrea Blasich. Next talent Niels Hoebers will show his latest project Slow Stories. And last – but sooo not least – some originals puppets by LAIKA.

In this area Erik Staub will do some live sculpting sessions. Please come and watch his amazing works and ask questions!

Sessions are on 3, 4, 10 & 11 October
09:30h – 10:30h
12:15h – 13:30h
15:00h – 16:00h

And another great addition is the fact that Iris Compiet is going to do live sketching in the expo area!

She’s the epiphany of a creator of whimsical creatures. Mother of fairies, witches, elves and everything fantasy, Dutch artist Iris Compiet has distinguished herself as a true talent to watch in the fields of illustration and character design. She has worked on the illustrations of several books including House of Furies, Heksenkind, Princess Nina and De Toverlantaarn. And created a fantastic art book of her own: Faeries of the Faultlines.
