Fans of Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared masterpiece indie series rejoice! We are bringing BAFTA winning duo Becky & Joe, right on our Maassilo stage! Get ready to pick their brains and see what other quirky mindblowingly creative things they have prepared for us!
If you’re into cutting-edge videos, commercials and promos then you should definitely check out Megaforce‘s presentation. They gained critical acclaim for a number of their videos including Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ Sacrilege, Brodinski’s Can’t Helpt Myself and Rihanna’s monster hit Bitch Better Have My Money. While at it, do add Boris & Nicolas in your program mix, as these animators have a very unique take on working with mixed media animation and merging their individual styles and techniques, in order to create stunning viral videos.
Fluent in mixed media artistry as if being born into it, are the amazing 3D artist Vincent Schwenk – creator of colorful and fluid sculptures, 3D makeup artist Ines Alpha – maker of ethereal, futuristic narratives that rethink the beauty space and its possibilities, as well as filmmaker Jenkin van Zyl – known for combining different disciplines in hallucinatory, immersive installations, that give birth to fantastical communities inhabiting transient spaces. Three equally eye pleasing mind boggling talks you should not miss!
Creative and animation studios will be no strangers to In Motion either. We are simply delighted to be joined by Art & Graft – a creative studio dedicated to making the world’s most progressive brands move with beauty and intent, known for their collaborations with the likes of Apple, Meta, Google and Virgin Media, among others. Multi-award-winning and Oscar-nominated animation studio specialising in world-class narrative-driven films, series and branded content, Sun Creature, will also walk us through some of their amazing projects.
Giant Ant – receivers of a Children & Family Emmy for their work on the Hilda & The Mountain King titles, a Daytime Emmy for the collaboration with Nick Jr. alongside many other international awards and distinctions, should also be on your radar. And if you’re interested in the potential of VR sculpting software as a way of breaking free from traditional 3D norms, crafting work that is playful, maximalist and delightfully strange, then YONK‘s talk will be right up your alley.
When it comes to mixing experimental and innovation, the playful and whimsical the designs of Lucas Carmago (a.k.a Untitled Army) like challenging perceptions and surprising the viewers with all sorts of visual twists. HyperCulture, on the other hand, believes that value and excitement can be created by remixing and re-contextualising visual languages from different cultures, eras and forms. Both talks will however undoubtedly challenge your minds and eyes with spectacularly creative works.
And if you thought motion can’t be achieved also by incredibly talented illustrators, the showcase of Jaye Kang and Margherita Premuroso will make you think again! Margherita is an acclaimed art director, character designer, animator, and illustrator, that has collaborated with Elastic.TV, Studio AKA, Hornet, Le Cube, Panic.TV, Prologue, Saatchi&Saatchi, RAI and Bluezoo among others. Featured in publications, events, and advertising, Jaye Kang’s work celebrates life’s diversity, offering a unique perspective that highlights the connections between people, nature, and culture with imagination and creativity. His portfolio includes collaborations with clients like Procreate, Apple, Adobe, Billboard, Wacom, NIKE, GAP, and more. Make sure to explore their fabulous works!
A cherry on top of a fantastic line-up is the return of David Wilson. Billed as a ‘Lecture that’s Extra!’, his presentation anchors itself around ‘Queer Joy’ and how it’s infused his life and work as a creative and a human. Including special guest performances from Harry Clayton-Wright, Ms Sharon LeGrand, Titty Kaka and Wet Mess.
With still some puzzle pieces to arrange in our final program, we can already say we are beyond excited about the fantastic edition 2024 seems to have in store for us! So what say you? Joining us in Rotterdam?
