The time has almost come to kick off another edition of The Art Department Berlin! As we are prepping the venue, Playgroundrising it, we feel the prickling in our fingers, the nerves and excitement building up. And we really missed our fabulous Berlin audience!
But time is of the essence so here‘s a last glance at the things you shouldn‘t overlook. We’re also adding a map of the venue to ease the process of finding out where all the things are. Our FAQ is also quite rich in information you might find handy logistic wise.
Artist talks are always an amazing source of inspiration so we are super stoked to have on our stage this year artists like Peter Han, Suzy Parr, Gerald Parel, 9B Collective, ILM among many more. However, you should not underestimate the power of conversations. Real Talks with Loish and Iris Compiet alongside the Convoloot panels are a great chance to get exposed to different perspectives and choose the ones fitting you best.
If it’s networking opportunities you are seeking, our Industry Garden and Portfolio Reviews are filled with industry professionals eager to establish new connections and with valuable insights about how to best showcase your skills. Pick your slot and interact with companies like Karakter, Sehsucht, Wooga, Materia and artists such as Jama Jurabaev, Klaus Scherwinski, Dominik Mayer, Bastien Grivet, Phillip Boutté, Danar Worya and many more.
The talks and conversations are an incredible tool but sometimes what works best is seeing how artists work. In this sense we have once again set up the Artist Studios when you can really take your time and observe your favorite artists at work. Thanks to our principal sponsor Procreate, we were also able to invite Nicholas Kole for a paint over session where he will enhance designs submitted via Discord by festival visitors. And should you want to bottle up some of that artistry and take it home with you, make sure to visit our Bookshop. Who knows, you might even be able to catch a signing session!
Don’t forget, we also have a lavish film program and boy is it saucy, hot and made by amazing female artists!
Inspired by the Eindhoven experience, we are bringing to Berlin a whole new festival level through our Discord channel. There are many things to help you enhance your experience including getting a chance to ask questions to the artists and go hunting for Playgrounds treasures.
We are also very curious to see what inspires YOU during this festival. So make sure to share with us on social media insights from your experience. And if you’re drawing or sketching during the festival, definitely head out to Discord and post your creations. You can even win a Wacom tablet by doing so!
Yes, we are keeping the fun for last, but make no mistake: we take our afterparties serious! So polish those dancing shoes because Saturday evening will shake off all that sitting and chatting with a playlist by Rob Bliss and a funky DJ-set by ChewChew.
On Sunday, we’ll be sharing all the cool experiences we’ve had and we’ll be saying our goodbyes on the Drink & Draw Berlin premises, right on their Funkhaus “alley”, in a chill easy going get-together.
But until then, we will enjoy the 2024 TAD Berlin experience to the absolute fullest!
