FACTORY FIFTEEN

playgrounds 2013 | ARTIST TALK

Animation studio Factory Fifteen (UK) is led by directors Jonathan Gales, Paul Nicholls and Kibwe Tavares. With their evocative shorts and artwork, this talented young studio excels in depicting future visions and scenarios.

Just watch their beautifully surreal short Jonah, about two African boys with big dreams and a gigantic multicolored fish. With Jonah, live action and animation merge into a beautifully crafted story. The work of Factory Fifteen has been exhibited around the world in film festivals such as SXSW, onedotzero, Ars Electronica, and many others. Kibwe picked up the Jury prize for animation direction in this year’s Sundance Film Fest for Robots of Brixton, which also won the RIBA Silver Medal. Equally rewarded in the field of architecture and design, Factory Fifteen won awards for Best Architectural 3d Film (Golden Age) and Best Architectural 3D Image (Megalomania).
