CURT ENDERLE

art director and production designer

Curt Enderle has astonished both the theatre and cinema worlds with his art direction and set designs. Isle of Dogs, ParaNorman, The Boxtrolls are among the features he created designs for. More recently, Curt has worked as a production designer for Oscar Winner for Best Animated feature: Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio.

A 1987 Minnesota State University graduate, Curt Enderle won in 2001 an Emmy Award for his art direction in the stop-motion animation sitcom Gary and Mike. Further on he was a set designer for ParaNorman and art director for the animated feature The Boxtrolls, both of them produced by Laika.

He also worked on the internationally acclaimed Isle of the Dogs – an animated feature directed by Wes Anderson following a boy’s odyssey in search of his dog.

 

In the theatre world, Curt Enderle is known for his fabulous creations for MSU’s One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest and Angels in America stagings.

When talking about his work, Curt acknowledges that on of the things he enjoys most is is immersing himself in a time and place he wouldn’t otherwise experience. He’s now working as  a freelancer, creating various theatre designs and collaborating on stop-motion animations.
