Iris: “Siqi Song is an animation director based in California. She recently created six films for Mailchimp, ‘All In A Day’s Work’, about entrepreneurship. Working in stop-motion, she used felted wool for all the characters and the surroundings, giving her films a real fuzzy feeling, without making it looking too sweet.
Before that, she made her short film ‘Sister’, about the one-child policy in China, her country of birth. This film received an Oscar nomination and many other awards.
“The black and white look of the film, with small touches of red, attributes to the feeling of watching a memory.
I always love the amount of detail being put in stop-motion productions, but Siqi Song also puts loads of behind the scenes and sketches online. It’s really fun and interesting to see how she made her award-winning, stunning films.”
