Our editor Iris van den Akker introduces us to one of her all time favourite illustrators: the exquisite Malika Favre.
Iris: “Malika is one of my all time favourites. Not because her style could make any artist feel envy and her clients are to die for. But because she manages to dispose of all of the details and only shows the absolute necessary. And still her works are so recognisable and distinctive!
Her style makes you think of PopArt, optical illusions, and fashion design. With clients like the New Yorker, Vogue and BAFTA, she can definitely say she’s one of the top graphic illustrators out there. I would be really excited to see her at Playgrounds event some time in the future.
Born in Paris, Malika moved to London to pursue her illustration career. After 13 years in England an 7 freelancing, she now balances her work life with travelling.”
Malika Favre is a French artist based in London. Her bold, minimal style – often described as Pop Art meets OpArt – is a striking lesson in the use of positive/negative space and colour.
