We all know that learning doesn’t stop when an educational program ends. As creatives we always need to be on the lookout for new practices, sources of inspiration and yes, even ways of learning from fellow artists and their process.
In the past years we’ve been experimenting at Playgrounds with new ways of helping professionals further develop their expertise. During the Playgrounds Sessions, on Discord or through workshops and in depth sessions at our festivals, we explored various formats. Regardless of the ways however, the feedback was consistently telling the same story: there is a need for such meeting opportunities. We are thus delighted to give them all a new home and introduce you to the Playgrounds Academy!

A full day of hands-on character design with one of the industry’s most versatile designers. Wouter has worked for Sony, Paramount, Netflix and Skydance, and he’s ready to share everything he knows. Shape language, proportions, volume, gesture and movement, all covered in a small, focused group with personal feedback throughout.

Intuitive Illustration with Iris Compiet – 12+13 September 2026
