ATELIER NEXT: THE MUSEUM AS INSPIRATION BY KHATTAR SHAHEEN

What happens when you sit opposite a mammoth, a wolf or a bird as if it were a live model?

During this workshop, we’ll use the collection of het Natuurmusem as a starting point for a charcoal drawing. We’ll slow down, look closely and let ourselves be guided by form, light and shadow. Not to create a perfect copy, but to let something new emerge.

Using charcoal, we’ll build up a drawing from dark to light. We’ll work with layers, hatching, contrast and the white of the paper. You’ll discover how this simple material offers a surprising amount of scope for experimentation and developing your own visual language.

This workshop is an invitation to look at things differently. Not just to observe a museum exhibit, but to really sit opposite it and, for a moment, bring it back to life through your drawing.
