ROB BLISS

concept art and character design

The Harry Potter franchise, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Guardians of the Galaxy 3, The Dark Knight, The Last of Us, The House of Dragon, Maleficent, Divergent, Alien: Convenant, all made use of the amazing artistry of concept artist Rob Bliss.

Rob has been working in film and TV as a concept artist since 1998. He is currently based in the UK where he is working on films for the British, European and American film industry.

In the past he has also worked as a comic book artist and produced paintings for Magic the Gathering.

He studied illustration in Brighton UK with thoughts on working on magazine in the style of Ralph Steadman or Raymond Briggs.

His big break-throughs first came when he got to work on the comic The Clown by Igor Goldkind, and then later in 2001 when working on Lara Croft.

Equally skilled in 2D and 3D Rob believes that “the first service you’re providing [as a concept artist] is a picture that people who can’t draw or don’t have time to draw, can look at. So it needs to be clear enough that they all know what they’re looking at, and they can say what they do and don’t like about it.”
