JULIANA ERAZO

visual artist

Juliana Erazo is a Colombian visual artist and a recent graduate of an Animation Master at AKV. St. Joost. Her work focuses deeply on reflecting the female experience in different contexts and cultures that make up different struggles: from body normativity, sexuality and motherhood. Juliana has been selected for the Next Talent Program, 2020-2021.

Through the genre of animated documentary she has begun to discover other voices and amplify them with the filter of  moving drawings.

She is also a freelance illustrator and motion graphics artist. She’s passionate about digital painting, graphic design, 2d motion graphics and cell animation. She has collaborated with creative agencies that develop work for: FIFA, Google, Abbot and Youtube, among many other fun projects.

Juliana Erazo started her career in her home country of Columbia. Because there are only limited educational and work opportunities for creative makers, filmmakers and artists in Columbia, Juliana decided after several years of work experience to continue studying in Brabant, Den Bosch, the Master Animation at AKV | St. Joost.

Brabant and the Netherlands are now important pillars in her development and she has settled in Den Bosch. Brabant plays an essential role in the development of this international maker in both education and talent development.

Juliana has been selected for her high level of research, her current themes, her great knowledge of discourse, and penetrating storytelling. Her animations have a very specific aesthetic. In this process, this socially engaged maker will not only establish the connection with the Dutch industry, but also connect her international network with Brabant makers and give back her knowledge as a more experienced maker to the other selected Next talents.
