JIM STOTEN

illustrator

Illustrator Jim Stoten has always pushed boundaries when it came to exploring different ways of mixing painting, illustration, animation, collage, music and film. Creator of the iconic Mr. Tweed and his extravagant adventures, illustrator of a series of picture books, designer of posters, albums and covers, Jim Stoten is a master at blending genres and disciplines. He draws all the time. And when he is not drawing, he is doing something else. Like coming to give a whimsical artist talk during Blend 2019!

Jim Stoten lives and works in Hastings, UK. His work today consists mainly of elaborate and intricate drawings with a psychedelic flavour and animated gifs, all of which is applied to commercial briefs, editorial briefs and children’s books. He also continues to work on personal projects and collaborations with animators, film makers and other creatives around the world. He has 2 studios: one in his home where he works on commissions and personal projects, and a painting studio that he shares with chums, where he as he states makes “a mess for fun”.

Jim has worked for a long list of clients for the last decade including MTV, Levi’s, Urban Outfitters, Nestle, Marmite and British Airways.
