EXPO SKETCHING - INTO THE MIND OF THE ARTIST - free entrance

After the succes at last year’s festival we wanted to again dive into the mind of artists by displaying their work process and sketches at our hybrid festival The Art Department 2020. In a physical form at Klokgebouw, the festival venue and online. And this year you can be part of it too! And the best news – free entrance for the expo at Klokgebouw!

We always really want to browse through the sketchbooks and often we find the sketch much more powerful than the polished, ‘cleared’ end result. That is why we are devoting an exhibition to this subject: SKETCHING – into the mind of the artist at The Art Department 2020. An ode to sketching with work by a number of leading artists, who provide insight into their search on the basis of original work, sketchbooks and films. With work by, among others Loish, John Nevarez, Erik Staub, Danar Worya, Bram Sels, Even Mehl Amundsen, Iris Compiet and Vera van Wolferen. Also sculptor Erik Staub will be live sculpting and he will give tips and tricks.

And this year you can be part of this exhibition! ? If selected, your work will be shown in our real life exhibition in Eindhoven (NL) as well as during the free online livestream of the festival. In collaboration with ArtStation.

During the years we organized The Art Department we got the chance to not only meet you all but also browse through your sketch books and portfolio’s and discuss your work and process.

Since this year hybrids version of the festival only allows us to meet a limited number of artists and creatives, we thought of way that we can reach out to you and have a look at what you are up to.

We are looking for time-lapse video’s of you sketching. We wanna see you finding that perfect line 🙂 It can be done with a time-lapse of a digital image ór that you film yourselve while sketching ‘old skool’. Because it is all about the process… For this part of the expo we’ve teamed up with the good people of ArtStation! ArtStation is not only an amazing portfolio site, it also gives artists the opportunity to breakdown their process and gives room for not only the end results, but also the art of sketching and experiment. They have devoted one of their channels to sketching!
