Dit nieuwe festival heeft een onderscheidende insteek, en tijdens de meetup maak je hier kennis mee. Je krijgt een helder beeld van het aanbod en de mogelijkheden, zodat je goed op de hoogte bent van wat er in de regio beschikbaar is en gerichte keuzes kunt maken die aansluiten bij de interesses en behoeften van scholen en leerlingen.
Playgrounds International Film Festival (March 17-23, 2025) focuses on the craftsmanship behind film. The festival showcases exceptional examples of art direction, production design, VFX, costume design and more. The education program emphasizes the essential role of hands-on makers in the (animation) film world. Many young people in practical training programs are often unaware of career opportunities in this sector. They, in particular, have the practical skills essential for creating the mood and story in films but often do not know that these skills are so valued in the film industry.
On 20 March, Playgrounds and Natlab are organizing a meeting in which we, together with filmmaker Pien van Grinsven, will tell you all about the vision behind PIFF and the impact we want to make during this first edition. We will conclude the meeting with a drink at The Art Department (TAD), the festival which is about film, animation and games. TAD welcomed as many as 7,000 visitors in 2024, and previous editions have featured big names in the industry, such as James Baxter (The Lion King), Karla Ortiz (Jurassic World), and Larian Studios (Baldur’s Gate).

Playgrounds International Film Festival (17-23 maart 2025) richt zich op het vakmanschap achter film. Het festival toont bijzondere voorbeelden van art direction, production design, VFX, kostuumontwerp en meer. Het onderwijsprogramma benadrukt de essentiële rol van praktische makers in de (animatie)filmwereld. Veel jongeren op praktijkopleidingen zijn zich vaak niet bewust van de carrièremogelijkheden in deze sector. Juist zij hebben de praktische vaardigheden die essentieel zijn voor het creëren van de sfeer en het verhaal in films, maar weten vaak niet dat deze vaardigheden zo gewaardeerd worden in de filmindustrie.
Op 20 maart organiseren Playgrounds en Natlab een bijeenkomst waarin we samen met filmmaker Pien van Grinsven je alles vertellen over de visie achter PIFF en de impact die we willen maken tijdens deze eerste editie. De bijeenkomst sluiten we af met een drankje bij The Art Department (TAD), het festival over film, animatie en games. TAD verwelkomde in 2024 maar liefst 7.000 bezoekers en tijdens eerdere edities stonden grote namen uit de industrie op het podium, zoals James Baxter (The Lion King), Karla Ortiz (Jurassic World) en Larian Studios (Baldur’s Gate).
