FRAMESTORE

playgrounds 2015 | ARTIST TALK

Framestore claim to ‘make the impossible possible’ by creating moving imagery for the advertising, entertainment and film industries.

One of the ways to meet these ambitions is employing skilled young creatives like the dutch 3D animator and director Edwin Schaap, who won a playgrounds award with Little Freak (2013) and displayed his animation skills in Dracula untold, Paddington, Geostorm, The Martian and more. Animation is Schaap’s way of telling stories. From early on, he experimented with a video camera in order to create his own funny movies. He scored an instant YouTube hit with the short animated Robby (2008), made as a school assignment, followed by First Date (2010) and Rooted (2011). It earned him a HKU Award and an internship at Framestore (London). Schaap will soon be working on the prestigious Jungle Book, directed by Andy Serkis.
