Tessa Stehouwer is a 2D animator with a focus on expressive, lively character animation. After graduating from the MIVC Master of Animation at St. Joost, she started her career as a freelancer. She’s been happily working on many different projects, from short films, to commercials, to social media content.
Her work is defined by the details she tries to add in every animation she makes, to make the characters feel lively and real. She’s currently developing both a short film and a pitch for an animated series, based on personal themes, shining light on underrepresented topics and stories.
During The Art Department, Tessa will dive into her animated series pitch A-Typical Family. A series about the journey of Nova, a donor-conceived girl struggling with her identity and the question of meeting her donor. After turning 16, Nova discovers that the information has been lost, which results in a quest to find the identity of the donor herself.
Tessa will take the audience through the story and process of working on a project so personal that you’d rather keep it close and shielded.
