Rachelle and Maureen are a character design duo based in Rotterdam. Their collaboration began at the art academy, where a shared sense of humor – first recognized by hearing each other’s laughter echoing through the hallways – sparked a lasting friendship.
While working together at Ambassadors, they discovered the creative power of true collaboration. Even after transitioning into freelance careers, they continued to share a studio space and, almost inevitably, found themselves drawn to the same projects time and again.
Specializing in character design and concept art, they combine their complementary strengths to create characters. Rachelle brings strong technical illustration skills and a sharp eye for visual precision, while Maureen contributes an intuitive feel for abstract forms and expressive shapes. Together, they balance structure and spontaneity, completing each other’s creative vision.
During their talk, Maureen and Rachelle will discuss their approach to character design, highlighting the Miss Moxy film and the ASN Bank project.
