How can foley enhance the storytelling of movies and the experience of movie scenes and how does a foley artist make those sounds? Come find out! In this workshop we will be looking at examples from the work of Ronnie Van Der Veer, movies scenes he has worked on, and gather insights into the objects used to create those sounds.
In the second part of the workshop, together with the audience Ronnie will be creating the sounds for a scene from the movie Flodder by Dick Maas.
Ronnie van der Veer is an award winning foley artist from the Netherlands. From his studio, Foleytales, just outside Amsterdam he worked on movies like The Lobster by Yorgos Lanthimos, Girl by Lukas Dhont, war movie The Forgotten Battle and various Netflix, Disney and Amazon Originals. Various productions he worked on won Best Sound awards and played at festivals like Cannes, Sundance, Toronto, Berlin and Venice Film Festival. Ronnie uses his background as a drummer in his foley work and is a member of the MPSE.
