Juggling life and work can be a challenge, especially in the creative industries where it is easier to let yourself get carried away by the passion of the craft or overwhelmed by the endless creative possibilities. Artists also tend to be more prone to never quite being satisfied enough, feeling there’s always room for improvement.
Our host Spiridon Giannakis and his guests Pauline Voß, Emnet Mulgeta and Mel Milton will be discussing ways to achieve efficiency and not go insane.
Concept artist and illustrator Pauline Voß is, as she states, in love with moonlight and impossible colors. She often captures her characters in unusual but extremely expressive poses, which makes her work stand out. Among her clients are Valve, Wizards of the Coast, Netflix, Disney, HarperCollins and she’s currently working on her first adult coloring book.
Emnet Mulugeta is a cinematics director at Goodbye Kansas, based in Stockholm (Sweden). He built a diverse career spanning motion design, art direction, creative direction and live-action directing across Sweden, the UK and the US. He currently writes and directs cinematic trailers for AAA studios. His recent directing credits include Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Valhalla, Skull & Bones, and Redfall.
Mel Milton is known for working on projects like Toy Story 3, Cars 2, and Disney Infinity for Disney Interactive. He also took visual development and character design for a spin, landing roles at Marvel Animation where he contributed to Friendly Neighborhood Spiderman and Eyes of Wakanda. His impressive client list includes Nickelodeon, Sony, Netflix, Marvel, DC, Microsoft, and Lucasfilm. He currently creates variant comic book covers and contributes artwork to Disney Lorcana cards.
The discussion is going to be moderated by longtime Playgrounds friend, creative consultant, art book designer and publisher Spiridon Giannakis. He has been working in print media since 2006. Starting in 2017 he has helped artists, like Even Mehl Amundsen, Abigail Larson, Bjorn Hurri, Bastien Deharme, and many more, to publish their art books managing their crowdfunding campaigns. His latest project is Convoloot, a platform entirely focused on conversations and interviews with industry professionals and community leaders.
