On 27th September join us in Het Nieuwe Instituut in Rotterdam for Playgrounds Session #7 in tight collaboration with BNO IMG LAB. Come and meet the extraordinary minds of Frank Kolkman and Plastiek.
Plastiek are famous for making digital comics that push the limits of visual storytelling. Their widely acclaimed projects Protanopia and RRR have captured the hearts of fans and critics alike as well as pushing the boundaries further for the use of the revolutionary technologies.
In 2017 Frank Kolkman was award by the Dutch Design Awards with the Young Design Award. Trying to combine his curiosity towards the inner workings of things with analytical thinking and intuitive making, he aims to challenge our understanding of current and near-future technologies and their socio-political implications. His works include an Out-of-body experience simulator, a Domestic drug screening kit, a DIY Surgical Robo among others.
And last, but not least, the lovely Emmanuelle Walker! This London based animation director and illustrator has worked for clients like Christie’s, Lancôme, The Walt Disney Company, Spike Jonze, The Hollywood Reporter, Jean-Paul Gaultier and The World Economic Forum. She talked at Playgrounds in 2015 and we’re delighted she’s back!
