Fenne Maurer is an animator, director and visual development artist who loves all things pink and glittery. In her animated short films, she blends traditional materials like watercolours and coloured pencils with digital 2D frame-by-frame animation. She strives to tell absurd stories that explore relatable and nostalgic themes for a modern audience, all told in the style of a traditional fairy tale.’

Indah Heijmans is a Dutch- Indonesian illustrator and animator from Rotterdam. Through their projects they always aim to strengthen solidarity and create a sense of immersion and belonging, giving viewers a sustained feeling of delight. In 2023 Indah joined the Next Talent program.

As Iridescentable” Indah says, “my main focuses are on the visual arts such as illustration, graphic design and animation filmmaking. My work is expressive, associative and explores my interests for the whimsical world, intergenerational stories, divinity and identity. The worlds and stories I create revolve around the search for identity and embracing all that you encounter along the way, contributing to a greater understanding and acceptance for the journey to discovering who you are and who you will become. I want people to feel possibilities and I hope to sprinkle some wonder and enlightenment while doing that. This is not something I only want to share with others, but is important as a reminder for myself as well.”

Afan Zeng is an illustrator and animator from China. She graduated with a Master degree in Animation at the MIVC  St. Joost School of Art and Design in 2023.

Currently Afan has been growing her freelance practice beside developing her personal projects. She is part of our Next Talent Program, the 2025-2026 generation.

“I love creating fantasy worlds inspired by my emotions and senses, where I conjure characters that do not exist in reality.” Afan says. “They have freedom to create their own stories, unique experiences and adventures in this world. I hope to light up people’s hearts by the world I made, even if it is just a little bit.”

Doortje Schoonbrood is an animator and illustator located in Heerlen. She graduated from St.Joost and the Master of Animation in s’-Hertogenbosch. She is passionate about creating art with analogue material. By mixing traditional 2D animation, painting and writing poems, she creates experimental short animation. During her master’s, she produced the short films, Rage and Harmonies. Momentarily, she is working on her own business.

About Next OOMPH!
Born from a deep need to connect and share with peers, Dymphie Elisa launched OOMPH! – a series of fun, informal events where emerging makers could tell their stories. We were more than happy to embrace and support this initiative right from its very beginning resulting in the series of events Next OOMPH!
