FILMHELPDESK #21: MIKE WEERTS

After Mike graduated from the School of Drama in Eindhoven in 2005, he worked continuously in theatre, acting in several award-winning feature films and securing a number of regular roles in popular television series.

He is known for his roles in feature films such as Borgman (Alex van Warmerdam), Ferry (Netflix), De bende van Oss (Andre van Duren) among others. In Of ik gek ben (Frank Lammers) based on Michiel Stroink’s book, Mike shines in his first major leading role. He initiated this project himself and was also involved in it as creative producer.

Television audiences might know Mike as Arnold in Moeder, ik wil bij de revue (Rita Horst), Alex de Weert in Celblok H or as Danny in Voetbalvrouwen (Vincent Schuurman). In the theatre in recent seasons, he starred in Dansen met de vijand, Baantjer, the musical Petticoat, Hendrik Groen – Zolang er leven is (As long as there’s life) and All Stars the musical.

Besides acting, he works as a daytime chairman and presenter for various organisation and client. He is also voice-over for cartoons and radio commercials. As director of studio040, Mike is also heavily involved in the local Eindhoven media landscape.
