Tim van Nielen is an all-around artist. He is inspired by everything in nature, from the forming of landscapes to the walking pattern of the smallest of creatures, as well as the way we as animals interact with each other and live the life we are given. Most of his recent work revolves around the perspective and expectations of human life and our connection with nature. With VR, Blender & Unity he creates worlds and experiences in which an individual may learn more about themselves.

Tim believes that exploration is the core of human life, the continues search for new lands, new ways of living and finding out why we exist is in the heart of many. And now in this modern age, discovery is mostly found in technology or in space. Though VR and XR we can create new worlds to explore, our craving for discovery is met in the mind of another.
During his Next trajectory, Tim focussed on a project called ‘For my Crime of being small’.
Users get to play as a small humanoid creature whose life is constantly being terrorised by giants as vast as landscapes. The creature’s size is affected by their acceptance of self. The experience is set up as a challenging virtual reality climbing game with a story themed around the feeling of lagging behind, being physically small and vulnerable, the human hostility towards the lesser known or unknown, the danger and strength of ambition.
