HSIN MIN CHAN

XR maker

Hsin Min Chan is a transdisciplinary artist from Taiwan, currently based in the Netherlands. She creates dynamic, research-based experiences—ranging from performative installations and public interventions to films, live streams, and speculative dining events—that merge narratives, materiality and performativity.

In 2022 Hsin graduated from the Design Academy Eindhoven with a master degree in Contextual Design.

Her practice investigates power dynamics embedded in the gaze and its subjects across different societal contexts—particularly how dominant gazes mobilise knowledge and technology to enforce internalised surveillance and discipline the body into docility.

Using an autoethnographic approach, Hsin draws from her lived experiences—intersecting identity, gender, sexuality, politics, ethnicity, and culture—to examine the limits and possibilities of individual autonomy.

Her work spans installations, performances, drawings, films, actions, and live streaming. Through these varied forms, she stages interventions that disrupt normalised systems and propose alternative avenues of resistance.

Hsin has proudly been selected to take part in the Next XR Talent Program of 2025. We can’t wait to find out more about her journey!
