STIJN VAN DRUNEN

filmmaker

Stijn van Drunen is a filmmaker from Den Bosch, currently working as a creative and editor at Fabel Film in Tilburg. His path into filmmaking has been largely self-taught, driven by curiosity, passion, and a deep love creating stories.

As a kid, he dreamt of becoming a writer—until he discovered that what he truly wanted was to tell stories, and that his medium would be film. Starting with LEGO stop-motion videos and evolving into VFX-heavy short films with friends during high school.

After completing an AV-study at Sint Lucas in Eindhoven, he began creating short fiction films, learning through doing and always experimenting with tone, genre, and form. Stijn’s debut film Rottweiler explored the raw edges of crime drama, while his second short Zet Maar Op De Rekening shifted into a more absurd, darkly comedic family story—showing his versatility and hunger to keep trying new things.

At Fabel Film, he hones his craft in commercial work, but it’s fiction filmmaking that truly fuels him.

Stijn has been selected in the Next Talent Program of 2025. He hopes this will enable him to step more confidently into the role of writer/director and focus on developing narrative work that reflects his voice. His trajectory is not only about sharpening his skills, but also about claiming space for his creative vision—and learning to fully believe in it.
