Kirsten Lepore is an LA-based director and animator, and alumna of CalArts. She was the animation director on the A24 feature, Marcel the Shell with Shoes On. The film, directed by Dean Fleischer Camp, follows a cash-strapped documentary maker decides to make his newest documentary about a mollusk shell he finds living in his Airbnb with his friends.
It was nominated for an Oscar, Golden Globe, and won 3 Annie Awards, a Critics Choice Award, National Board of Review and New York Film Critics Circle award for Best Animated Picture.
For Marvel’s I Am Groot series, Kirsten wrote, directed as well as executive produced a series of photorealistic CG shorts about Baby Groot’s adventures growing up all over the galaxy.
Previously, Kirsten’s viral short Hi Stranger garnered upwards of 200 million views online, and her stop-motion episode of Adventure Time won a 2016 Emmy & Annie award.
