How do you go from surviving on pizza, noodles and pocket money from your parents to a sustainable game studio? This question is answered by three Dutch game developers whom all were able to grow the dreams of mere students into award winning games. Matthijs van de Laar (creative director and co-founder of Twirlbound), Tomas Sala (creator of The Falconeer) and Lennart Sas (co-founder of Triumph Studios) share their paths towards where they are now. How do you finance these projects? Where do you find solid partners? What are the risks and struggles you must face? That and more in this panel!

Twirlbound is a Breda based game development studio, founded by Matthijs van de Laar and Marc Peyré. Straight from the school benches they launched themselves into the development of their game Pine on which they’ve been working ever since. Tomas Sala is an independent game artist and designer who is best known as creator of The Facloneer as well as the exotic Skyrim Mod series: Moonpath to Elsweyr. As one of the co-founders of Triumph Studios, Lennart Sas is responsible for developing The Age of Wonders a turn based strategy game set in a fantasy setting. They have also created Overlord, an action-role-playing series that casts you as an over-the-top bad guy with a host of silly creatures.
