In this in-depth interview recorded during The Art Department | World Tour, illustrator, character designer and social media savvy Lois van Baarle goes back to her roots. Both culturally and artistically. She talks about her days in art school, handling feedback and the mile-stones that have led her to the point where she is now in her career. We also learn about her drawing rituals, that she is not one of those artists to always carry a sketchbook around and go sit in a corner and start sketching but also about some of her artistic choices.
Famous for being one of the concept artists involved in developing Aloy, the protagonist of the epic adventure Horizon Zero Dawn from Guerrila Games, Loish has also collaborated with Coca-Cola, 21 Draw, Submarine Channel and Sony. In 2016, she teamed up with publisher, 3Dtotal, to release her first artbook, The Art of Loish, which was funded successfully on Kickstarter in under two hours. Two years later, she released her second artbook, The Sketchbook of Loish, featuring rough work and sketches.
