He is a graduate from Sir J.J. Institute of Applied Art, topped up with a couple of years of learning illustration at The Art Department. Anand is passionate about storytelling in any medium and derives inspiration from masters like Moebius, Alphonse Mucha etc. He lived his whole life in Mumbai, going to Art College Mumbai. He graduated from the Applied Art School but chose not to follow the traditional path of working in advertising because he felt there was very little attention given to personal growth.

He prefers the particularities of drawing in traditional mediums considering it is impossible to recreate a certain texture once it’s put on paper, but doesn’t shy away from exploring all sorts of mediums while approaching very different techniques. In the interview Anand also talks about the differences between drawing for observational purposes and drawing from imagination, and how he is trying to combine the two in his works.
